Orbit, created by Hayden Harrison, is a sphere of revolving light and sound. For this piece I made a system to control Orbit's LEDs with a combination of TouchDesigner and Max for Live. Hayden composed the sound Orbit in Ableton Live, and using the system I made, He was also able to control the light from automations in Live.
Orbit Is a spatial installation in both sound and light. Each of cell of Orbit has a speaker and a few LEDs. Hayden's sound design used 3D audio spatialization, and so the lighting system I designed also was a 3D volumetric control of the LEDs. With these two systems we matched the parameters of azimuth angle and elevation angle to make a synchronicity of light and sound position.
